Long-time Ann Arbor residents will remember Howard Cooper Imports which began simply as a stand-alone Volkswagen dealership in 1965. Over the following decade, Howard Cooper Imports would grow to include the Audi and Porsche franchises which would share a single facility at 2575 S. State St. in Ann Arbor, MI. In the spring of 2012, Steve Germain and the Germain Motor Co. would expand for the first time into the state of Michigan with the purchase of the organization’s first Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche dealerships.

Steve immediately got to work improving the existing facilities on South State Street, completely remodeling the Porsche and Audi dealerships before constructing a brand new facility for Volkswagen which opened in the fall of 2016. Today, you will find 3 state-of-the-art facilities, one dedicated to each franchise with plenty of room to display vehicles and accommodate shoppers, including indoor brand new drive-in facilities for our service customers at all three facilities.

Our Community Involvement

Continuing in their support of the Ann Arbor community where these dealerships first opened for business in 1965, the Porsche, Audi, and Volkswagen dealerships have continued to support local charities and the Ann Arbor community through partnerships with Food Gathers, the local organization for Feeding America; Humane Society of Huron Valley; The Jackson Road Cruise; One More Moment – a charity that helps to fulfill the wishes of terminally ill children and adults; University of Michigan / Charles Woodson Clinical Research Fund – VIA C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital; and AFC Ann Arbor – Ann Arbor’s local soccer club which competes in the National Premier Soccer League.
